Description

The Database Administrator will assist in maintaining a stable and secure production database environment that aligns with BCX’s standards. The role involves monitoring database performance, ensuring data recovery in case of failures, managing configurations, and implementing preventive measures under the guidance of senior Database Administrators.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the Configuration Management Database (CMDB) in line with BCX’s standards
• Utilize ITSM systems for request handling, incident resolution, and problem management
• Monitor database performance, analyze trends, and optimize for efficiency
• Build and maintain a network of support structures, including vendors and user groups
• Stay updated with the latest database versions and manage updates through UAT and QA processes
• Monitor and report on space utilization, CPU, and memory usage
• Ensure effective backup strategies and validate disaster recovery plans

Qualifications

• NQF 4: Grade 12
• National Diploma in Information Technology (or equivalent)
• 3 years of experience in MS SQL Server database administration
